Kindergarten to 5th grade
At St. Andrew’s Episcopal Academy, our Elementary division knows that, in these formative years, students will acquire important literacy, numeracy, creativity and communication skills. They thrive in an environment where they enjoy learning and develop desire to continue learning. Our Elementary Education provides a climate where students develop ability for critical thinking and logical judgment. Our highly qualified classroom teachers incorporate a variety of multi-sensory activities aligned to the weekly target skills in Language Arts, Science, Math and Social Studies to ensure students are actively engaged in the entire learning process. We remain committed to building confidence, socio-emotional skills and the leadership traits that will serve them throughout their lives.
Our curriculum has been carefully designed to offer a progression of skill development, incorporating a range of teaching strategies and methods. Our small class sizes allow for students to get the one on one attention and guidance they need. Our teachers are highly communicative and work closely with our families to ensure our students reach their potential.
The use of technology is integrated into every subject area. The infusion of online resources, apps, videos, games, tutorials, e-texts, and other digital curricular assets provides a wide range of supplemental engaging materials for each subject area.
Primary students also attend weekly elective classes, which include Music, Spanish, Physical Education, Christian Education and Art, that complement our curriculum.
PreK-2, PreK-3, PreK-4
Research shows that Early Childhood Education lays the foundation for remarkable and accelerated learning. Indeed, studies agree that brain development from birth to age five is more aggressive than at any other point in a person’s life, even though our brains continue to grow through adulthood. At St. Andrew’s, we make the most of this developmental phase in a highly nurturing and caring environment. Children in our PreK program make incredible strides as each day presents a new learning opportunity and discovery. Our quality programs set our youngest students up for a life-long enthusiasm for learning.
Through play, children learn to build confidence, develop social skills and creativity. The ECE program uses The Creative Curriculum to guide our educators in creating play-based learning in all content areas: Literacy, Math, Science, Social Studies, the Arts, and Technology, as well as the social/emotional needs of the child. Our ECE students attend weekly elective classes, which include Music, Spanish, Physical Education and Christian Education.
